Even the snow couldn’t dampen RPRY’s Early Childhood Pre-Chanukah Melava Malka! A huge crowd turned out for the community wide event with crafts, song, and food. The children contributed to a paper mural on the wall, drawing in Chanukah shapes. They also made stained glass style window decorations in the shapes of a kad shemen, dreidels, and Chanukiot. After the craft time, the whole group joined together to sing Chanukah songs. The children gathered in front excited to sing and act out the hand motions of the songs they had practiced in class. Several RPRY parents related that their children have been singing the Chanukah songs non-stop leading up to the Melava Malka! Eighth grade volunteers ushered the event and took family photos inside a festive frame. At the end, a buffet of donuts and mini latkes was served. The Chanukah spirit, singing, and smell of latkes were in the air at RPRY on the snowy night!
