Chevra Shas/Lunch & Learn
Students have the opportunity for extra Torah learning with Rabbi Gross and other Rebbeim during Chevra Shas which meets several days a week during the lunch period. Other Lunch & Learn programs are made available to students through the year as well, including the well-received "Legal Lunch & Learn" which introduces students to our legal system.
The Chidon HaTanach is an exciting time for sixth – eighth grade students to do independent study of various topics in Tanach. Test dates and topics are announced. Students who earn a high grade on all three written exams continue on to the national finals in NY. The winner of the national finals is awarded a ticket to Eretz Yisrael and joins the international championship.
Our student magazine is run under the supervision of a parent volunteer and offers our students the opportunity to serve as writers, reporters, editors, and artists and to take ownership of the project through the publishing process.
Our Torah Bowl teams have brought us much nachat! We are part of the Western Division of the Junior League of National Torah Bowl. Each year, one sefer of the Chamisha Chumshei Torah is studied. The teams compete with other schools in the tri‐state area. In order to qualify, students are required to take a test on a given topic. While the teams meet to study once a week during lunch time, it also requires a significant amount of independent study. In the past, RPRY has won division and championship titles.
