After School Clubs Descriptions

Basketball

Enjoy the fun of playing basketball while learning the skills and techniques necessary to improve your game. This is an instructional clinic, including drills, exercises and scrimmaging in an effort to improve your game. The boys’ clinic will be taught by Yicheol Tanenbaum. The girls’ clinic will be taught by Bonnie Orgel.

Soccer

Spencer Rockman and his associates are back with Rovers Soccer. Through “soccernastics” and skill building games of dribbling, passing and shooting, Rovers Soccer creates an environment of fun and fitness designed to foster growth in your child’s motor skills, coordination and group interaction.

Mini Ballet

Fresh Theater Arts will be running our Mini ballet class. Classes are narrative in nature as students are led through a series of movement stories and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys alike. The creative movement in each story enhances the development of fine and gross motor skills as they balance, skip, leap, coordinate, isolate and move to the music. Social skills are also developed through collaborative and cooperative games.

Dance It Up

Fresh Theater Arts will be running our Dance It Up class. This dance class will explore different dance styles, including, Hip Hop, Jazz and Musical Theatre. Each week we will learn a different combination to an exciting and popular song. Gain confidence and experience in dancing, while exercising and having fun.

Taekwondo

Our PN – K class will focus on ,basic blocks, eye & hand coordination, balance drills,  core exercises, and  basic punching.
Grades 1-4 will focus on basic blocks& kicks, balance drills, core, upper and lower body exercises, basic hand techniques
and basic self-defense techniques. This class will be taught by Sensai Durham. Sensai Durham has been teaching Taekwono for over 27 years.

Sewing

Yehudis Moratov will be teaching sewing this semester. Students will learn  basic hand stitching using needle and thread.  They will  sew with felt and cotton. Kids will learn basic stitches, how to design a pattern, cut fabric safely and how to sew on buttons and appliqués!

Young Rembrandts Drawing

3 ½ years old – K Young Rembrandts classes will challenge and excite your budding artist while preparing your child as a lifelong learner. Drawings like  marbles will help your preschooler master the art of creating a circle, a deceptively simple yet complex shape. The acorn and apple tree drawing will strengthen your child’s compositional skills and use of colors. Basic facial and figure drawing will also be addressed as our students learn to draw a funny clown and scarecrow. These are just a few of the many great lessons our students will learn.

Grades 1-4 & Grades 5-8 (Girls)  Back to school is in full swing as we present a bountiful selection of drawings that introduce our students to a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We say farewell to summer in our detailed still life drawing of a beach. We explore color usage and composition in our silly monster and fire truck drawings. In keeping with the season, our stylized fall leaves drawing challenges our technique and color scheme.
